POSITION PROFILE
Responsible for defining and supporting the successful execution of critical and complex business initiatives and programs.
Leads in the development of enterprise and business unit strategic plans. Works on cross-enterprise initiatives. Provides thought leadership, guidance, analysis, presentation and other materials to CEO and senior leadership throughout the organization. Develops relationships with senior executives, peers, external advisors and cross-functional team members as required in support of initiatives.
In partnership with senior leaders, the role will be responsible for scoping major strategic initiatives, including M&A initiatives, and supporting their end-to-end execution to ensure effective results and transformative business outcomes. This highly visible position supports the business to significantly improve our execution speed and effectiveness, drive consistency, and understand and support the unique business requirements of every function.
It will be essential that the Principal Strategist not only have outstanding analytical and communication skills, including slide writing and presentation skills, but also exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills – as success will largely be a factor of leading via influence rather than solid-line reporting relationships.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working closely with CEO and top level executives to define strategic priorities and ensure strategic initiatives have strong linkages with the overall financial plan.
- Working closely with CEO to summarize strategic hypotheses into presentation-ready slides and to manage executive level discussions around strategic hypotheses.
- Use a data-driven approach approach to develop and measure strategic initiatives.
- Working with key business leaders to identify and develop key actions for initiatives.
- Ensuring that key initiatives are linked to business strategy
- Support the development of an M&A approach aligned to strategic priorities.
- Ensuring strategic initiatives have a program scope, schedule, quality and associated metrics are adequately defined and delivered.
- Validate realization of benefits including tracking financial and qualitative results.
- Vetting business case development, understanding business goals and drivers and alignment with strategic vision.
- Anticipating and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Developing and maintaining relationships across the organization.
- Working with key business leaders to identify and develop key actions for initiatives.
- Checking with all the business leaders to ensure that work is being done - reporting of progress.
