Role Description The Attending Anesthesiologist is a full-time, on-site role based in Port Jefferson, NY. This role is responsible for providing anesthesia care across a range of surgical and procedural settings, including preoperative evaluation, intraoperative management, and postoperative recovery. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and implementing anesthesia plans, monitoring patients’ vital signs and responses to anesthesia, managing airway and hemodynamic stability, and addressing acute and chronic pain needs. The Attending Anesthesiologist will collaborate with surgeons, critical care teams, nursing staff, and other specialists to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Additional responsibilities may involve participation in quality improvement initiatives, education of trainees and staff, and adherence to institutional protocols and evidence-based guidelines.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in anesthesiology, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative management, and postoperative care.
- Strong foundation in medicine relevant to perioperative care, including management of complex comorbidities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with surgery teams to plan and execute anesthesia care tailored to specific procedures.
- Experience or familiarity with critical care nursing principles to support patients in intensive and high-acuity settings.
- Competence in pain management, including acute perioperative pain control and coordination of chronic pain strategies when appropriate.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution and completion of an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency.
- Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology and current unrestricted medical license (or eligibility) in New York State.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills, with a commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.
- Willingness to participate in teaching, mentorship, and continuing professional development.
