Northway Homes, one of the Carolinas' leading homebuilders, is seeking a highly organizedConstruction Operations Coordinator to support our development and construction team. This is a fast-paced, in-office role for someone who thrives on solving problems, coordinating complex projects, and keeping dozens of moving pieces on schedule.
The ideal candidate has experience in residential construction operations, permitting, or project coordination and is comfortable working with municipalities, utility companies, vendors, and subcontractors to keep projects moving efficiently. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects from permitting through construction while helping keep hundreds of homes on schedule each year.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate permitting for residential construction projects with city and county agencies
- Review construction plans and prepare permit submittal packages
- Coordinate and schedule inspections, utility contractors, subcontractors, and field personnel to keep projects on schedule
- Manage utility coordination with agencies including Charlotte Water, Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas
- Coordinate 811 utility locates and monitor project readiness
- Monitor project milestones and proactively follow up with municipalities, utility providers, vendors, and subcontractors to eliminate delays
- Prepare purchase orders, contracts, and other construction documentation
- Manage vendor insurance certificates and subcontractor agreements
- Coordinate appliance orders, material deliveries, and selected vendor schedules throughout construction
- Maintain accurate project schedules, databases, and status reports
- Communicate project updates with construction managers and company leadership
- Identify issues early and help develop solutions that keep projects moving forward
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in residential construction, permitting, construction operations, or project coordination
- Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without losing attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with municipalities, utility providers, vendors, and subcontractors
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software and adapt to changing technology
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Google Workspace
- Experience with permitting software and construction management systems is a plus
