What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation and Safety Coordinator position at Northview Public Schools Transportation?
As a Transportation Safety and Security Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of transportation operations within our organization. You will oversee and implement policies, procedures, and initiatives aimed at minimizing risks and promoting compliance with safety regulations across various modes of transportation.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma
- Training and Experience: Active CDL or be willing to obtain one within the first 6 weeks of employment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Communication: Liaising with school administrators, parents, bus drivers and community members to address concerns, communicate transportation updates, student discipline, and gather feedback.
- Safety Procedures: Developing and enforcing safety protocols for drivers and students, including emergency evacuation procedures and accident response plans.
- Student Discipline: Inputting student discipline into MTSS and Traversa systems for discipline documentation. Pulling video from buses to watch excessive student behavior.
Other Job Responsibilities:
- Driving a Bus: Must be willing to sub on a route or trip when needed.
- Dispatching: Needs to be available for morning dispatching and opening of the office. Light office duties are required. Knowledge of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and other general technology skills are preferred.
- Bus Safety: giving bus safety instruction to elementary students annually

Terms of Employment:
- This position follows the paraprofessional agreement
- 30 Hours per week
Evaluation:
- Annual evaluation of the Transportation and Safety Coordinator is conducted by the director of transportation.
