Position Summary:
The Assistant Swim Coach is responsible for helping to develop and leading a safe, fun, and competitive swim program for student-athletes. The coach will help plan practices, teach swimming techniques, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and manage team participation in meets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct regular swim practices focused on skill development, conditioning, and team strategy.
- Teach proper swimming techniques, safety protocols, and rules of the sport.
- Foster a positive, inclusive team environment that promotes respect, effort, and sportsmanship.
- Supervise students during practices, meets, and team events.
- Coordinate and attend swim meets, including handling entries and team logistics.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff.
- Ensure compliance with school and athletic department policies.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a swim coach or competitive swimmer preferred.
- Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and safety procedures.
- Ability to motivate and positively influence high school students.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass background checks as required by the school or district.
