What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Owner position at Northview Consulting LLC?
Company Description
Northview Consulting LLC partners with financial services and fintech organizations to build and refine the technology, data, and pricing capabilities that drive meaningful business outcomes. Our work spans valuation and pricing model development, market-data workflows, product strategy, new platform builds, and targeted modernization efforts across fixed income, municipal bonds, private debt, and insurance-linked markets.
Role Description
Northview Consulting is seeking an experienced Product Owner to support a modernization initiative within a financial services organization.
This role requires someone who can develop true product fluency. We are looking for a candidate who can understand how the product works end-to-end, how data moves through the environment, and how key business decisions are carried through the systems. That understanding must be translated into clear, well-structured features and user stories that facilitate reliable, high-quality delivery.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on execution specialist who is strong in analysis, strong in communication, and highly effective at working with engineering, QA, data, and business stakeholders to move work forward in a structured and predictable manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Build deep understanding of key business workflows, decision flows, operational processes, and data.
- Translate product vision and modernization goals into structured, actionable features and user stories with clear acceptance criteria and thoughtful edge-case handling.
- Create workflow diagrams and lightweight UI mockups to aid alignment and communication.
- Own and maintain a well-prioritized backlog aligned to program milestones, dependencies, and cross-functional needs.
- Provide day-to-day clarity to engineering and QA teams; ensure stories are testable, unambiguous, and grounded in real user and system behavior.
- Guide work across the full SDLC—partnering with engineering, architecture, data, and QA to refine requirements, clarify logic, resolve blockers, and validate delivered functionality.
- Support UAT preparation and execution by providing detailed context, clarifications, and functional guidance.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years in a Product Owner or hybrid BA/PO role within financial services, insurance, capital markets, or similarly regulated domains.
- Proven ability to rapidly achieve deep product fluency in complex, data-driven environments.
- Strong experience writing high-quality features and user stories with precise acceptance criteria.
- Ability to visualize and document workflows and UI interactions with lightweight design tools
- Understanding of Agile practices and enterprise-grade SDLC processes.
- Experience working closely with engineering, QA, data, and architecture teams.
- Excellent communication skills and analytical reasoning.
- Nice to have: Background in underwriting, credit/risk analysis, exposures, or fixed-income operations.
