What are the responsibilities and job description for the Body Technician position at Northtown Collision?
Northtown Collision is looking for an Auto Body Technician to join our repair team. In this position, you will repair a variety of damage from collision, weather damage, and other damage done to the body of vehicles. While most of your duties revolve around the body itself, our ideal candidate has some experience working with all the systems in a vehicle. We prefer you have an associate degree in automotive technology, but not mandatory and we are willing to work with technicians who have vocational certificates and/or several years of experience. Northtown Collision is a Direct Repair Provider for several major insurance companies. We meet insurance requirements to provide the highest quality repair work, professional service, and customer satisfaction. At Northtown we provide the Certified Shop Advantage; you will be repairing customer’s vehicles using the latest parts, tools and equipment.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for essential duties.
- Must be able to execute needed repairs without direct supervision and guidance.
- Complete body work or light frame work tasks such as dents and frame straightening
- Welding skills
- Repair all aspects from body work, fabricating panels, fiberglass work, and mechanical repair.
- Repair vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
- Checks parts against estimate and ensure proper parts are ordered and received.
- Notify management of any additional repairs needed.
- Maintain tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Maintain and wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow all safety guidelines, ensuring conformance with OSHA.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Auto Body Technician Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED certificate
I-CAR Certification preferred
State of Michigan certified preferred
Valid state driver’s license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
