We are currently seeking a Durable Medical Equipment Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fitting diabetic shoes, braces and compression stockings, and be knowledgeable in DME billing, documentation, and customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Fit and measure patients for diabetic shoes, braces and compression stockings in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and insurance requirements.
- Handle billing and insurance claims for DME products, including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial plans.
- Collect and verify all necessary documentation for coverage (e.g., physician notes, prescriptions, certificates of medical necessity).
- Educate customers on proper use and care of equipment.
- Provide product information and recommendations for bath safety equipment, mobility aids (wheelchairs, rollators, walkers, canes) and lift chairs.
- Respond to inquiries regarding availability, insurance coverage and product functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of fittings, documentation, billing, and customer interactions.
- Stay up to date with regulatory guidelines and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Experience in fitting DME items such as diabetic footwear, braces, and compression wear is required.
- Strong knowledge of DME billing and documentation (Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification as a Certified Fitter or Orthotic Fitter
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional healthcare or medical equipment training is a plus.
