Job Summary

The Scale Operator is responsible for managing all inbound and outbound scale operations. This role requires accurate documentation of grain products, including necessary quality measurements and data collection to support quality assurance. The Scale Operator will collaborate on scale hours and schedules, participate in required training, and ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent client service are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

· Operate scale to accurately record all product weights, ensuring proper documentation for grain handling, and quality assurance

· Complete knowledge of scale program and reporting features

· Ability to analyze and decipher shipping documents

· Communicate with operational staff and leadership on product flow

· Grade incoming grain and the ability to identify quality issues

· Operate grain grading equipment and troubleshoot issues

· Maintain updated grain charts for drying, sales and markets

· Assist clients with questions concerning grain contracts and pricing

· Maintain scale operations schedule

· Ownership of all related company processes and procedures

· Complete appropriate paperwork and reports

Supporting Responsibilities

· Provide maintenance support on scale equipment

· Manage scale certifications

· Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

· Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant experience is a plus.

· Technical Skills:

o Proficient in the use of computer technology and other relevant tools, including Microsoft Office Suite

o Ability to understand agricultural operations and service

o Ability to stand for long periods of time

o Skill in reporting and data management

o Previous experience in scale operations and grade grading valued, but not required

· Soft Skills:

o Strong attention to detail

o Display a high degree of adaptability and flexibility

o Self-driven, motivated, and organizationally efficient

o Strong commitment to quality, honesty, and client service

o Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with focus on team collaboration

o Possess a confident and positive mindset

o Safety-minded with strong awareness and adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and best practices

Work Environment

· Primarily office-based, with the ability to work extended hours during peak grain harvest seasons
