Job Summary
The Hourly Driver must exercise safe driving practices to ensure their safety and the safety of the public. The Hourly Driver is responsible for loading and unloading the truck according to the established standard operating procedures to prevent cross contamination of products and must follow the directions from the Site Manager and always maintain accurate paperwork and logs. The Hourly Driver is responsible for compliance with Department of Transportation safety rules and regulations, all company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
· Haul product from rail site to mill, customers, vendors, and warehouses and facilities.
· Plan driving route according to assigned loads and verify load paperwork.
· Report all vehicle defects, maintenance issues, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicle.
· Complete required paperwork in an organized, accurate, and timely manner.
· Utilize scale computer software for scaling in and out.
· Perform pre trip and post trip inspections daily.
· Practice safe load and unload procedures.
· Follow standard operating procedures for load sampling, testing, and commodity storage.
· Maintain vehicle cleanliness; washing at least twice a month.
· Comply with all company policies.
· Adhere to all DOT laws and regulations, including weight limits.
· Obey all state and local traffic laws, including posted speed limits.
· Adhere to rail site, vendor, customer, and business conduct rules and procedures.
Job Qualifications
· Class A CDL.
· Valid DOT Medical Card.
· Valid experience with hopper trailer/tractor.
· High School degree or equivalent.
· Flexible and able to adapt to change.
· Strong sense of teamwork and effective communication skills with ability to prioritize and organize.
· Ability to lift 60 pounds and climb ladders.
· Must possess safety-mindset and meet all DOT requirements / comply with DOT rules and regulations.
