JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, provides individual assistance that allows a student to remain safely in school with access to the curriculum and educational environment while supporting personal care and/or behavioral needs. The 1:1 EC Teacher Assistant will accompany the student for the entire school day, and will collaborate with the supervising teacher (General Education and Exceptional Children’s). The 1:1 EC Teacher Assistant will assist with basic human functions such as toileting (changing diapers or using the bathroom), eating/feeding, and provide instructional assistance while promoting independence to the extent appropriate for the student. If there are mobility needs, the 1:1 EC Teacher assistant will assist with transferring the student to/from wheelchairs/toilets as well as any individual equipment. A 1:1 EC Teacher Assistant working with a student who has behavioral needs will support and implement behavior plans while maintaining a safe environment for the student and staff. 1:1 EC Teacher Assistant will be responsible for daily data collecting. The work is performed under the supervision of the Exceptional Children’s teacher and principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
60 Semester/90 Quarter Hours of College Credits
(Prefer that college credits be in education or related area)
Experience working with individuals who have Autism
Experience working with individuals who have Mental Health Diagnosis including comorbidity
Experience working with individuals who require assistance for daily needs
Basic Life Support preferred, but will provide training if needed
Crisis Response Certification preferred, but will provide training if needed
SALARY INFORMATION
Pay Grade 54
Full-time, Temporary
$15.23 - $20.00 per hour
(Based on 0-30 years of experience in a school system as a teacher assistant)
