Job Summary: This position provides leadership and supervision of school-based School Technology Specialist (STS) staff, including their daily support work and annual projects. In collaboration with Technology Services leadership and building principals, the STS Supervisor establishes STS work performance standards and expectations, conducts annual evaluations consistent with the ESP Collective Bargaining Agreement, and ensures aligned and effective technology service and support across all district schools. The position provides technical guidance on complex matters, leads staff training and development, supervises STS work in hardware and software support, and drives the implementation of technology projects and standards in support of district goals..
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Supervises school-based STS staff, including daily support work and annual projects; establishes performance expectations and standards; and conducts annual evaluations.
- Participates in the hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new STS staff in coordination with Technology Services leadership and Human Resources.
- Models professional behavior and customer service standards for STS staff; and provides coaching, mentoring, and professional development to STS staff to build individual and team capacity.
- Organizes and leads STS staff as an effective technical team; enhances team members' capabilities and fosters a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Develops and maintains strong customer focus and effective working relationships with Technology Services leadership, building principals, and school staff.
- Works collaboratively with principals to ensure school technology service needs are being met; collaborates with principals when STSs need performance plans or improvements in performance expectations.
- Collaborates with the district technology support team on standards and protocols to ensure aligned and effective service across the district.
- Assists in creating, implementing, and maintaining technical standards and procedures for the acquisition, maintenance, and support of technology in schools.
- Supervises STS involvement in the installation, service, and maintenance of a variety of operating systems, computer platforms, hardware peripherals, and software applications.
- Assists with analyzing and reporting support metrics and service data; shares information on team performance, service trends, and identified gaps with technology leadership.
- Assists in maintaining applicable documentation, technical standards, and helpdesk knowledgebase resources.
- Attends district meetings, leadership team meetings, and training as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Assistant Director of Technology Support; supervises Student Technology Specialists.
Working Conditions:
Required to meet inflexible deadlines; required to concentrate mentally and visually for extended periods of time; occasionally required to deal with distraught or frustrated people; occasionally required to work flexible and irregular hours to complete tasks, occasionally required to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds; required to operate a motor vehicle and drive between sites; manual dexterity and precision required to make network connections and operate a computer.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Completion of a two-year post-secondary degree program in information technology, computer science, or a related field and three (3) years of experience providing technical support in a multi-platform environment, including one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience, required. Experience supporting technology in a K-12 educational environment.
Allowable Substitution
Alternate combinations of education and experience will be evaluated for comparability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the day-to-day support work performed by school-based technology staff; knowledge of operating systems, computer platforms, hardware peripherals, and software applications common to K-12 environments; ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate a distributed team across multiple schools; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with building principals, district leadership, and staff; ability to read, write, and communicate technical information effectively with all stakeholders; ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others; ability to work irregular and flexible hours as required; ability to establish effective work priorities and to plan and organize work effectively; demonstrated initiative, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Licenses/Special Requirements
Valid Washington State driver’s license.
Salary: 2025-26 Non-Represented (NNRAP) Administrator Salary Schedule (salary will be updated according to the 2026-27 school year salary schedule once it has been approved); Level F; placement on the salary schedule will be determined by Human Resources DOE. FLSA Exempt.
Work Year: 12 month position, 260 days per year, 8.0 hours per day.
Benefits: Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package, for eligible positions. Generally, you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
