Role Overview: A Cardiac Cath Technologist supports invasive cardiology procedures, including cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker insertions, TEE/CV, IABP support, and PCI. They assist physicians by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile techniques, administering contrast media, and monitoring patient safety and comfort. The technologist operates complex cardiac cath lab equipment, documents procedures, manages inventory, and participates in quality improvement initiatives. They are responsible for recognizing emergencies, providing radiation protection, and rotating on-call as needed.
Qualifications & Skills: Effective communication, ability to work under pressure, patient confidentiality, and problem-solving skills. Must hold CVT and fluoroscopy certification; RT (R) or RCIS preferred. Licenses include ARRT-CV, BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification. An associate degree is preferred.
