NorthPointe Dance Academy is seeking a high-caliber Ballet Instructor to lead our competitive and pre-professional students. We aren’t just looking for someone to teach "steps"—we want a mentor who understands that ballet is the essential foundation for every elite dancer.
The ideal candidate possesses a deep technical knowledge of classical syllabi (Vaganova, Cecchetti, or ABT), a sharp eye for alignment, and the ability to inspire a generation of dancers to strive for technical perfection and artistic grace.
Key Responsibilities
- Elite Technical Training: Execute rigorous ballet classes for competitive students (ages 8–18), focusing on placement, turnout, strength, and extension.
- Pointe Work: Safely guide students through the transition to pointe and provide advanced instruction in pointe technique and variations.
- Competition Choreography: Conceptualize and choreograph award-winning ballet and lyrical/contemporary ballet pieces for regional and national competitions.
- Foundation Building: Ensure a consistent technical vocabulary across all levels to prepare students for the demands of jazz, contemporary, and acro.
- Progress Tracking: Provide constructive, individualized feedback and formal evaluations to help dancers meet their personal and competitive goals.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Pedigree: A Bachelor’s degree in Dance OR professional company performance experience.
- Proven Track Record: Experience teaching in a competitive studio environment with a history of high-scoring entries or student placements in reputable summer intensives/colleges.
- Technical Expertise: Mastery of classical terminology and a comprehensive understanding of anatomy and injury prevention.

Preferred Skills
- Certification in a recognized syllabus (e.g., ABT® National Training Curriculum, RAD).
- Experience in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) or Pilates for Dancers.
- Ability to teach supplemental styles (Leaps & Turns, Contemporary, or Stretch/Strength).
