We are currently looking for individuals/parents/families to become therapeutic homes and help us provide a new and successful therapeutic treatment for a child age 7-11 in your home. You become an important part of our treatment team. No experience required. Our ideal homes would enjoy the challenge of building up their community by providing an encouraging, supportive, and reliable in-home therapeutic environment to one child for approximately 6-9 months per child. NO therapeutic experience is required, we will provide training and education.
Duties and Responsibilities as a Therapeutic Parent
- Able to provide the child with a private bedroom and daily essentials in your home for 6-9 months
- Be part of a caring/professional team
- Protect the child from harm
- Support the child
- Provide safety, supervision, and demonstrate/model self-control
- Monitor needed medical care
- Support the child's educational needs
- Support the child's/permanent family's therapeutic process
Qualifications and Skills for a Therapeutic Parent
Educational/Licensing Requirements
- Licensing will be processed through, and training will be provided by, TFCO-Northpointe.
Basic Qualifications
- Flexible schedule to provide youth supervision
- Reliable transportation
- Provide a private bedroom for the youth
- Live in Michigan within 40 minutes or near Menominee County
- No current foster care children
