At NorthMark Strategies, we believe the future isn’t something to hope for, it’s something to build. We don’t just invest, we create. Bringing together strategic insight and technical horsepower to deliver outcomes that endure.
The AI Engineering (AIE) team is a small, high-leverage team responsible for driving AI adoption across a multi-entity organization. The AIE owns the AI platform, tooling, licenses, and access, and is also responsible for the core enterprise content management systems (SharePoint Online, NetDocuments) that AI solutions are built on top of. Our mandate is adoption and capability-building: we aim to enable every employee and team to be more effective with AI and with the systems that hold their data, not to become an internal agency that builds and administers everything in isolation.
About the Role
We are hiring an AI Engineer I to serve as a generalist on the AI Engineering team, splitting time between junior AI engineering work and day-to-day administration of our content management systems (SharePoint Online and NetDocuments) across NMS Group's affiliate entities. This role reports directly to the AI Engineering Manager.
You will support senior engineers on AI-enabled builds (automation, integrations, lightweight tooling) while also owning routine administration, access provisioning, and tier-1/tier-2 support for the systems where our business content lives. This is a strong entry point for someone early in their career who wants exposure to both applied AI engineering and enterprise systems administration, with room to grow into a deeper AI engineering track or a platform/CMS administration track as the department scales.
What You'll Do
AI Engineering Support
- Assist senior AI engineers with building, testing, and documenting AI-enabled solutions: lightweight automations, prompt and workflow design, and integrations with line-of-business systems.
- Support administration of the Claude Enterprise environment, including user provisioning, role-based access, and basic usage monitoring, under the direction of the AI Engineering Manager.
- Help maintain the department's reusable tooling, templates, and playbooks so solutions built for one business unit can be adapted by others.
- Write basic scripts or Power Automate flows to connect AI tools, SharePoint, NetDocuments, and other business systems.
- Contribute to intake tracking, status reporting, and documentation for AIE engagements.
Content Management Systems Administration
- Administer SharePoint Online: site and library provisioning, permissions, information architecture, retention and records policies, and Lists.
- Administer NetDocuments: workspace and cabinet configuration, user and group permissions, profile management, and third-party integrations.
- Serve as the first point of contact (tier-1/tier-2) for content management system issues and access requests across NMS Group's affiliate entities, escalating complex issues appropriately.
- Support related Microsoft 365 administration tasks (Entra ID groups, licensing, basic tenant settings) as needed.
- Maintain clear, current documentation of CMS configurations, standard operating procedures, and governance policies.
What You'll Bring
- 0–2 years of professional experience in IT, systems administration, or software/AI engineering. Internship, coursework, or self-directed projects in AI/ML are a plus; this is a junior-level role and we will train on our specific tools.
- Working knowledge of, or demonstrated aptitude to quickly learn, SharePoint Online administration and a document management system such as NetDocuments.
- Basic scripting ability (Python, PowerShell, or Power Automate) and comfort working with APIs.
- Genuine interest in applied AI: hands-on experience with LLM tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) and curiosity about prompt engineering and AI-enabled workflows.
- Strong documentation and communication skills; comfortable supporting both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business entities.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple support requests and small projects at once.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID and the M365 admin center.
- Exposure to Jira and Confluence administration.
- Coursework or project experience involving retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, or automation platforms.
- Experience in a regulated or multi-entity environment where data isolation and governance are first-class concerns.
Why Join
You will get hands-on exposure to both applied AI engineering and enterprise systems administration inside a small, growing team with direct visibility to leadership. You will help keep the foundational systems that AI solutions depend on running cleanly, while building the technical skills to grow into a full AI engineering role or a platform administration lead role as the department scales.
