What are the responsibilities and job description for the Practice Operations Coordinator (New Grad, Growth Track) position at Northline Psychiatry?
About Northline Psychiatry
Northline Psychiatry is a growing specialty psychiatric practice on the southeastern Connecticut shoreline. We combine psychiatric medication management with individual therapy under one roof, and we are in-network with most major commercial plans. We run a deliberately modern back office: AI tools handle documentation, intake, scheduling support, and billing workflows, and our team spends its time on patients instead of paperwork.
About the Position
This is a first/early post-college role for someone who wants to learn how a healthcare business runs. To start, you will be the person patients meet first and the person who keeps the day moving: front desk, scheduling, insurance verification, and billing follow-up. You will also help us build and run the AI-assisted workflows behind all of it.
We are opening additional sites in the coming months. The candidate will learn the playbook now and grow with the practice as we expand.
Duties
- Greet and check in patients, answer calls and messages, and keep the front of the office calm and welcoming
- Complete phone intake for new patients: demographics, insurance, and appointment preferences
- Verify insurance benefits and explain coverage and copays before the first visit
- Book, confirm, reschedule, and backfill appointments across clinician calendars
- Follow up on patient balances and prior authorizations
- Use and help improve our AI-assisted workflows for scheduling, intake, documentation, and billing (training provided)
- Coordinate with pharmacies, labs, and referring providers
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, business, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged)
- Genuinely comfortable with technology and curious about AI tools; you learn new software quickly
- Strong written and verbal communication and real attention to detail
- Discretion with sensitive clinical and financial information
- Organized, steady under pressure, and happy to own a task end to end
- Healthcare or customer-facing experience is a plus, but not required
- Schedule and Compensation
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, on-site in Niantic, CT
- $50,000 to $55,000 per year, based on experience
- Paid time off, health insurance contribution, 401(k) with matching
We look forward to hearing from you. Northline Psychiatry is an equal opportunity employer.
