Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and oversee all quality systems and processes within a manufacturing operation in Conover, North Carolina. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality standards to ensure that all products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. The role will drive a culture of continuous improvement across multiple plant operations through strong leadership, process optimization, and adherence to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards, policies, and procedures aligned with customer and industry requirements.
- Lead the administration and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001, RHP).
- Maintain and manage all documentation related to quality policies, procedures, and change control.
Quality Control & Assurance
- Oversee inspections and testing of raw materials and finished goods to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Analyze quality data—including defect rates, waste, and customer feedback—to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Conduct internal and external audits, perform root cause analyses, and lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives.
- Manage supplier quality programs and ensure proper handling and retention of quality samples.
Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
- Serve as the voice of the customer by investigating and resolving complaints, and integrating feedback into process improvements.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, quality awareness, and accountability across all sites.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Recruit, train, and mentor quality assurance and control staff, ensuring teams have the tools and knowledge to meet performance goals.
- Partner cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Product Development teams to embed quality principles throughout the product lifecycle.
- Prepare and present quality metrics, analysis, and reports to senior leadership, linking performance to operational and financial outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, including proficiency in root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.).
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and experienced in data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time between plant locations.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a Quality-related field required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of QA/QC experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience implementing and managing a Quality Management System (QMS), preferably with ISO certification experience.
- Demonstrated success leading quality improvement initiatives across multiple production sites.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in both office and manufacturing settings.
- Exposure to varying temperatures and moderate-to-heavy noise levels in plant environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and remain active on the production floor.
- Regular use of standard office and testing equipment.
- May require more than 40 hours per week based on operational needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
