Northland Plastics, Inc.
Sheboygan, WI Full Time
POSTED ON 8/1/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/29/2026

The Quality Assurance & Logistics Specialist plays a critical cross-functional role within our extrusion plant, bridging the gap between production quality, inventory control, and shipping operations. This position is responsible for ensuring that our plastic profile parts meet rigorous quality standards, maintaining accurate quality documentation, efficiently managing material flows between the warehouse and production floor, and executing safe, accurate shipping and loading procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Inspections

  • Perform dimensional and visual quality inspections of extruded plastic profile parts using precision measurement tools (such as calipers, micrometers, and custom gauges).
  • Compare physical parts against engineering drawings, master samples, and quality specifications.
  • Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming or defective parts to prevent them from reaching customers.

2. Load Checks & Outbound Verification

  • Conduct thorough load checks of finished goods prior to shipment to ensure absolute accuracy.
  • Verify that outbound packaging, labeling, bundle counts, and banding integrity match customer and order requirements.
  • Cross-check shipping documentation against physical inventory to eliminate discrepancies.

3. Quality Assurance Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date quality logs, inspection records, and reject tracking data.
  • Assist in organizing and filing quality assurance documentation and Certificates of Analysis (CoAs).
  • Enter quality data into plant systems and assist with internal audits or compliance record-keeping.

4. Material Handling & Inventory Control

  • Safely operate material handling equipment (such as forklifts) to transport raw materials from the warehouse to production lines.
  • Move finished goods from production areas to the warehouse storage location.
  • Execute real-time computer/ERP system transactions for inventory movements, material issues, and production receipts.

5. Truck Loading Operations

  • Safely and efficiently load finished goods onto outbound trucks and trailers.
  • Ensure proper weight distribution, load security (straps, bars, and wrapping), and damage prevention during transit.
  • Coordinate with shipping documentation and drivers to ensure on-time and accurate dispatches.

6. General Manufacturing Support

  • Provide general operational support across the extrusion floor as needed (e.g., relieving operators, assisting with packaging lines, or performing secondary operations).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment by adhering to 5S and plant housekeeping standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across production, quality, and logistics.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within plastics extrusion, warehousing, or quality control.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in using mechanical measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, gauges).
  • Basic computer literacy and experience with ERP/inventory management systems.
  • Certifications: Valid forklift certification (or the ability to obtain one upon hire).
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to moving equipment and moderate industrial noise.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, small-team environment.
