What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician – Plastics Manufacturing (1st, 2nd or 3rd Shift) position at Northland Plastics, Inc.?
Keep a 24-hour plant running at a family-owned manufacturer where your work is noticed. Northland Plastics has made custom plastic profiles in Sheboygan since 1953 — about 40 of us, running ABS and PVC extrusion lines around the clock. We're hiring a hands-on maintenance tech who'd rather fix the root cause than reset the same fault every night.
The schedule, plainly
- 8-hour shifts, five days a week. 1st 7 AM–3 PM and 2nd 3 PM–11 PM run Monday–Friday; 3rd 11 PM–7 AM starts Sunday night and ends Friday morning.
- Hiring on all three shifts — tell us which you want. Off-shift techs work independently, so we pay accordingly.
What you'll do
- Troubleshoot and repair extruders, pullers, saws and cutters, vacuum sizing tanks, chillers, compressors and granulators
- Diagnose 480V three-phase motor, VFD, control and PLC faults (read ladder logic, swap I/O, basic edits)
- Repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems — gearboxes, bearings, chains, cylinders, valves
- Run and improve the preventive maintenance program; document repairs and spare parts
- Help install and set up new equipment as we grow
What you need
- 3 years of industrial maintenance, or a technical diploma (industrial maintenance / electromechanical) plus 1 year
- Safe, confident troubleshooting on 480V three-phase; lockout/tagout every time
- Your own basic hand tools and a meter
- Welding, fabrication or PLC programming is a plus

- $30–$36/hour based on experience and skills
