Northland Controls is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to support and maintain enterprise-level physical security systems for a client environment in Shanghai, China. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, configuring, and maintaining access control, video management, and database systems while ensuring alignment with Northland standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Test, program, and troubleshoot access control and digital video systems
- Support projects through final adjustment, commissioning, and system handover
- Troubleshoot system and network-related issues remotely with customers and vendors
- Perform system health checks and preventative maintenance activities
- Configure and tailor systems to support customer business requirements
- Maintain security systems and proactively identify faults and process improvement opportunities
- Program and support physical security systems, including access control, video management systems, and integrations
- Execute installations in accordance with Northland and client standards
- Create and maintain system documentation for customers
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety standards at all times
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the security industry
- Lenel certification required
- Experience with Milestone Video Management Systems preferred
- Understanding of system segmentation/partitioning
- Experience configuring and supporting networks
- Knowledge of enterprise system architecture
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Customer-focused mindset with ability to support enterprise environments
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent field experience
- Certifications in Lenel (required) and Milestone (preferred)
- Experience with enterprise-level security systems and integrations
- Networking and system architecture knowledge preferred
- Embedded role within a client environment
- Primarily office-based with hands-on system support responsibilities
- Full-time role
- Travel up to 15–25%, including occasional international travel
