Help Young Children Build Strong Beginnings

Through ParentChild , you will bring carefully selected books and educational toys directly to families, model simple learning activities, and encourage parents as they help their children grow. About the Position
The Early Learning Specialist provides voluntary, relationship-based ParentChild visits to families with young children. The program supports early learning and school readiness while strengthening the parent-child relationship. Visits are family-centered, strength-based, and built around each family's interests, culture, and goals.
What you will do
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents, caregivers, and young children.
- Provide two ParentChild visits each week to each family on your caseload.
- Bring a book or educational toy for the family to keep and use it to guide playful learning.
- Model reading, play, and conversation activities that support healthy development and school readiness.
- Encourage parents and caregivers and build on the strengths they already bring to their family.
- Recruit and enroll families, build awareness of ParentChild , and help the program maintain a full caseload.
- Connect families with local resources when needs or questions come up.
- Complete visit notes, assessments, mileage, and other program records accurately and on time.
- Participate in supervision, staff meetings, required training, family events, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with young children and families.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and required automobile insurance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use email, shared calendars, video meetings, and electronic program records.
Preferred
- Education or training in early childhood education, child development, social work, family studies, education, or a related field.
- Home visiting, early childhood, family support, or community outreach experience.
- Knowledge of child development, early learning, and strengths-based family support.
- Equivalent combinations of education, lived experience, and directly related work experience may be considered.

Position Details
Schedule: Full-time during the school year. Weekly hours depend on caseload and program needs.
Location: This position is based at Northland Area Family Service Center in Remer. The Early Learning Specialist works from the family center and travels throughout the service area to visit families in their homes and, when appropriate, approved community settings.
Pay: $20.09/hour
