Through direct reports, manages all production, efficiency & productivity of the manufacturing plant across multiple shifts, departments and line assemblies, to manufacture products that meet established quality, customer service, safety, sanitation, innovation and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies; implements work standards and maintains improvement through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor, oversees the production of quality products to fulfill customer requirements; controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, labor and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to maximize efficiency; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability. This position reports directly to the Director of Plant Operations and will work under limited supervision. Accountable for all efficiency & productivity matrixes of the Production facility, including food safety, cost of goods, labor cost, operational cost, internal and external sales. This position leads by example, maintains a positive work environment and ensures fair and consistent treatment of all associates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages the teams in the Chicharron, Frying, and the Spice Packing Departments.
  • Assist the Director of Plant Operations on all budgetary numbers of Food plant.
  • Develops and implements daily production scheduling of Departments.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of plant associates.
  • Responsible to maintain infrastructure of Plant and takes decisive corrective action when required.
  • Responsible for keeping Plant in optimum sanitation condition and ensures that all SOP’s, HACCP & SSOP’s are executed as planned.
  • Ensures that the Food Safety & Quality Assurance programs are executed and ensures that Plant operates at optimum conditions according to GFSI regulations & industry standards.
  • Establishes manufacturing process and acts as the process authority in all Plant’s areas. This includes approval and signing off on changes to any manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for executing all new products and ensures to communicate updates to Stores, Corporate & Customers when appropriate.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all processes meet customer specification requirements and minimizes risk to the company.
  • Responsible for maintaining qualified and productive staff to meet and/or exceed the expected level of performance and demands of management and customers.
  • Develop and monitor a continuous improvement methodology directed at improving performance in the departmental areas assigned, including productivity, quality, safety, attendance, sanitation, yields and cost reduction/control.
  • Ensures full utilization of ERP system in department.
  • Responsible for initiating and developing processes for monitoring, measuring, and reporting key performance initiatives within production departments.
  • Optimize new product development through the standardization of materials and processes to ensure repeatability. Consistently apply to all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, execution, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP’s).
  • Monitor production lines and all food preparation for optimum performance while conforming to product Standard Manufacturing Practices (SMP’s).
  • Responsible for implementing an effective preventive maintenance program on all equipment pieces in Department, working in conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensures effective communications between all departments, i.e., Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, warehouse, human resources, sanitation, maintenance, etc.
  • Directs and coordinates with team members, (i.e., supervisor and operators) for all product changeovers.
  • Communicates and coordinates staffing and training requirements with Human Resources for labor scheduling, forecasting, and reduction in force requirements, ensuring operating requirements are met effectively and efficiently promotes and maintains positive relationships among all levels of management and associates.

  • Must have a very strong Customer Service commitment.
  • In depth knowledge of Food manufacturing & processing.
  • Understand the ability to work and manage production lines with hands on, on the floor of style of management.
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate the daily production requirements as to product type(s), finishes and distribution of product between kitchen, warehouse, and fresh cut fruit operations.
  • Ability to establish and use metrics and continuous improvements processes to drive up performance.
  • Able to resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to problems and challenges as they are identified and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and follow through in all areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to develop & coordinate project plans / projects and communicate changes and progress effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the department associates, Peers, and Store Management.
  • Must be able to work with others and coordinate production with co-workers.
  • Must work with minimum or no supervision.
  • Must have an excellent attendance record, reliable and flexible when seasonal work is occasionally required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferable but not a must.
  • 5 years demonstrated manufacturing & processing supervisory experience in roles of increasing responsibility demonstrating the ability to achieve results.
  • Supervisor experience and knowledge of current management and supervisory techniques.
  • Lead, delegate, monitor, and follow up.

Certificates/ Licenses/ Registrations

HACCP Certified required

Skills Required:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to read, write and speak English satisfactorily to perform the essential functions.
  • Bi-lingual English Spanish highly desirable.
  • Ability to calculate complex figures and amounts such as formulation, vertical production, proportions, percentages, and volumes.
  • Ability to define problems and collect data. Establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Be able to have good communication and mentoring skills.
  • Be able to critically think with exceptional problem-solving skills and be able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high output environment.
  • Proven management and leadership skills to orchestrate complex large-scale projects and fixed budgets.
  • Solid knowledge in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
