- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Reviews time records for completeness.
- Verifies team member data integrated into payroll system.
- Verifies payroll deductions.
- Reviews and ensures accuracy of payroll-related tax filings.
- Prepares or directs compilation of payroll data for reports.
- Assists the general ledger staff with payroll related journal entries and accruals.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Supervises Payroll Associates and ensures a productive and pleasant work environment
- Responds to payroll questions from team members.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, experience, skills required, equipment used.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Five or more years of applicable experience with a minimum of three years of supervisory/managerial experience, Associates or above degree preferred, or combination of experience and education.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
