Job Summary
Provides direct professional nursing care for medical/surgical, maternal and newborn patients by utilizing nursing knowledge and critical thinking skills. Performs technical nursing functions, utilizes the nursing process to assess patient status, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care. Ensures a therapeutic and safe environment for patients and families within the guidelines and policies of the department and the philosophy of the organization. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for neonate, adolescent, and adult patients.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is: RN ASN, $42.27-$62.17; RN BSN, $43.97-$64.66; RN MSN, $45.72-$67.24. These ranges reflect the base salary for this position.

Key Accountabilities
- Patient assessment
- Assesses patient’s condition based upon observation, examination, and / or interview, laboratory findings, and other pertinent information
- Completes assessment in specified time frame.
- Identifies and consistently recognizes changes in normal and abnormal parameters in the patient’s physiological and psychological condition.
- Patient care planning
- Uses professional judgement and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize and execute the patient’s plan of care consistent with patient assessment data and physician’s treatment plans and professional standards of evidence based practice.
- Directs and delegates support personnel in implementing patient’s plan of care, provides supervision and guidance.
- Patient interventions
- Implements nursing interventions to achieve progress toward expected patient outcomes or to stabilize a patient’s condition and / or prevent complications.
- Consistently follows patient care and facility policy and procedures in performance of one’s duties. Will assist with direct patient care including providing ADLs and answering call lights.
- Renders professional nursing care including administering medications, starting intravenous fluids and blood products.
- Performs all technical skills required for unit patient population such as, but not limited to IV venipuncture, restraint application, sterile dressings, etc.
- Evaluation of care
- Evaluates and documents patient’s response to nursing care and modifies or revises treatment plans, and / or contacts physicians as circumstances require.
- Documentation reflects evaluation of patient response to nursing actions.
- Provides patient education
- Provides and documents patient / family education based on diagnosis, treatment plan or prescribed medical regimen in accordance with patient / family readiness and ability to learn.
- Current RN license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing, in good standing
- Current BLS must be enrolled in NH C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
- Current ACLS must be enrolled in NH C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
- Current PALS must be enrolled in NH C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
- Current NRP certification (if not current will need to obtain in the first 6 months).
- Current STABLE certification (if not current will need to obtain in the first 12 months).
- Basic Electronic Fetal Monitoring (if not current will need to obtain in the first 6 months).
- Trauma training that meets the trauma system criteria (within 1 year of module availability or within 1 year of hire).
- EKG rhythm interpretation (competence must be documented in the first 6 months)
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written English
- Initial Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months.
- Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
- 2-5 years of Med/Surg or Post Partum experience, preffered
- 60 hours per two-week pay period
- Shifts (Flex) 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m., or 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
- 2 out of 6 weekends
- 2 of 6 holidays (never consecutive)

Salary : $42 - $67
