Job Summary
Oversee NH C efforts in areas of safety, physical security, emergency management, hazardous materials and waste, and assists with the LASER Safety program. Serves as chair of the Emergency Management Task Force, Security, Workplace Safety and Safe Patient Handling, Hazardous Materials and Waste Committees. Serves as the Hazardous Waste Coordinator. Serves as the Liaison with the Metro Region Hospital Compact and Metro Health and Medical Preparedness Coalition.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The wage range for this position is $78,170–$110,358 annually. This range reflects the base salary for this position.

Key Accountabilities
- Assure that safety monitoring occurs, and that there is continued progress in the program that reflects that findings are acted upon, recommendations are implemented, and follow up occurs.
- Monitor the development and appropriateness of organizational wide and departmental safety policies and procedures in conjunction with the Safety Committee, Administration and the Governing Board.
- Participate directly in hazard surveillance and incident reporting.
- Provide safety education orientation for new employees and annual retraining safety program for all employees.
- Monitor and assure compliance with safety standards established by law, regulation, or accepted practice.
- Handles hazardous pharmaceutical waste in accordance with hospital protocol, including transporting hazardous waste disposal containers, ensuring hazardous waste disposal containers are closed, and recognizing any hazardous waste spills or emergencies and contacting the hospital’s hazardous waste coordinator accordingly.
- Acts as the Emergency Coordinator in the event of a hazardous waste spill or release to implement the hospital’s contingency plan accordingly.
- Act as authority to identify and respond to unsafe conditions.
- Implement the hospital wide Safety Management Program utilizing whatever resources and vehicles are deemed necessary.
- Assure compliance with federal and state guidelines regarding disaster and emergency planning, accessing available resources.
- Oversee staff safety and make recommendations re: building (all campuses) security.
- Coordinate and reports all security, codes, emergency fire and disaster drills
- Demonstrates ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable level of professional/leadership experience
- Three years of experience in Emergency Management, Law Enforcement or related field
- Knowledgeable of safety standards, codes and regulations for hospital, clinics, rehabilitation, and EMS.
- Skilled use of spreadsheets, word processing and data collection and analysis
- Instructor of Crisis Prevention Institutes Foundations Course or equivalent within six months of hire
- Hazardous Materials and Waste DOT course certification for Storing and Shipping Hazardous Waste within six months of hire
- Valid MN Driver License
- Monday — Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
- Weekends and holidays as needed
