At the Northfield General Store you are more than a clerk; you are the face of the company to our community. We are looking to expand our team with a Part-Time Deli/Retail Clerk filling between 20-30 hours dependent on seasonal demand.

As a Deli/Retail Clerk, you will perform day-to-day food service and retail tasks to maintain cleanliness throughout the store and provide consistent products and a high-quality experience for our customers.

Duties include but are not limited to:

· Slicing Deli Meats/Cheeses/Vegetables and Preparing ingredients for service.

· Preparing food to standard according to procedure.

· Cleaning Equipment including but not limited to Slicers, Egg-Maker, Coffee Pots, and all Food Prep/Contact Surfaces.

· Ensuring that ingredients are stocked, fresh, and properly labeled.

· Restocking Retail Shelves and Displays.

· Safely Operating Equipment such as Deli Slicer, Egg-Maker, Oven, and Toaster.

· Accurately and efficiently completing sales transactions and maintaining proper accountability at the cash register.

· Maintaining a clean, customer friendly store environment.

· Performing regular cleaning activities including, but not limited to: cleaning floors, glass doors, counter surfaces, and restrooms; emptying all interior and exterior trash cans; rotating and straightening merchandise; and cleaning beverage and foodservice equipment.

· Replenishing products and supplies to ensure product availability.

· Checking in and Receiving orders.

· Monitoring temperature control standards and food safety systems.

· Taking direction from Store Manager as required.

Requirements:

· Must be 18 years or older.

· HS diploma or GED equivalent.

· Comfortable standing for extended periods of time.

· Able to lift 25 lbs.

· Able to effectively handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.

· Able to work as part of a team as well as independently.

· Able to perform opening and closing tasks to standard without supervision including reconciling cash drawer at end of day.

· Operate POS and Lotto Machine.

· Able to perform light inventory reconciliation.

· Able to follow directions accurately and efficiently.

· Excellent customer service and problem resolution skills.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Flexible and able to cooperate with the Store Manager’s needs that may change on a daily basis to maintain the proper functioning of the store.

· Must be available Sundays.

What you’ll do:

· Welcome customers, take orders, meet customer requests, and offer product insight.

· Slice Deli Meats/Cheeses/Vegetables and Prepare ingredients for service.

· Interpret & Fulfill food orders according to standards and procedures.

· Clean deli equipment such as Slicers, Egg-Maker, and Food Prep Areas.

· Deliver unparalleled customer service.

· Work as a member of a strong store team.

· Restock retail items, rotating stock and keeping product levels full.

· Operate within Local Health Authority and Store Management guidelines for quality control, merchandising, & food safety systems.

· Ensure that the coffee station is clean and stocked, the food service area is spotless, and overall store cleanliness is maintained.

· Operate the Cash Register and Lotto Machine and ensure cash is handled per store policy.

· Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of Store Owner and Manager.

Preferred Experience:

· 1 year in retail, restaurant, or guest service.

· Experience with Square POS systems and cash register.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications and Skills: ServSafe/Food Handler certification a plus but not mandatory.

Scheduling: This position is part-time and involves working a variety of hours, day and night based on store and seasonal needs, both opening and closing shifts. Sunday availability is a must.

Hours & Conditions: The position is an hourly rate including tips.

Physical Requirements: Able to maneuver frequently, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Able to stand/walk up to 8 hours a day as needed depending on shift; reach overhead, bend, squat, twist, reach, grasp and grip and work in cooler (cold temperatures). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
