Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role located in Oakton, VA, for a Communications, Programs and Interpreting Services Coordinator. The Coordinator will oversee internal and external communications, assist in planning and implementing programs, and provide support for interpreting services. Responsibilities include managing social media and the organization’s website, coordinating educational events, maintaining program materials, and assisting with interpreting requests. The role involves direct interaction with community members and collaboration with staff to ensure effective program delivery and communication.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience in professional correspondence
- Proficiency in social media management, website content updates, and basic design tools
- Experience in planning, organizing, and supporting events and educational programs
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community is required at least Conversational Level
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with diverse community members
- Proficiency in using office software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
- Background in nonprofit work or a related field is a plus
