Assistant Preschool Teacher (ages 3-5)_ Emporium, PA

Northern Tier Community Action Head Start program has an opening for a full-time Assistant Teacher to begin in August of 2026. This position is located in the Pre-K Counts classroom within the Cameron County School District Building.

These positions provide direct assistance to the Teacher in conducting classroom activities, maintaining classroom environment, and supervising children; may also assist in planning and record keeping and other classroom related duties. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood and the ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner are essential job skills.

The position is Monday-Friday for a total of 37.5 hours for approximately 37-40 weeks/year. Clearances and a physical are required. CPR and First Aid Certification must be obtained. Additional duties include, meal prep, clean-up and grocery shopping.

.An assistant teacher/aide must meet at least one of the following state-mandated criteria:

• Degree: Possession of an Associate degree or higher in early childhood education or a related field.
• College Credits: Completion of at least 2 years of full-time postsecondary study (minimum of 60 college credits).
• Credential: Possession of an active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
• Formal Assessment: Passing a rigorous formal state or local assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in early childhood instruction.
