What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Mechanic position at Northern Oilfield Services LLC?
Job Overview
This is a dedicated shop position focused on keeping our service equipment and fleet running. You'll be the go-to person for repairing and maintaining our hydraulic test pumps, torque tools, and other field equipment, plus handling preventive maintenance on our trucks and trailers. If you like solving mechanical problems and taking ownership of a shop, this is a good fit.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild hydraulic test pumps, torque tools, and related service equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers — oil and filter changes, fluids, brakes, lights, tires, greasing
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, air, and basic electrical issues
- Inspect returning equipment, identify problems, and turn it around for the next job
- Keep maintenance records and track parts usage
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe shop
- Support field crews with equipment questions and troubleshooting
What We're Looking For
- Solid hands-on mechanical experience — heavy equipment, diesel, hydraulics, agricultural, or industrial backgrounds all translate well
- Ability to diagnose problems and work independently without someone standing over you
- Own hand tools (we supply specialty tools and shop equipment)
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Reliable, safety-minded, and willing to put in the hours when work picks up
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Hydraulic pump or high-pressure equipment repair experience
- CDL, or willingness to obtain one
- DOT annual inspector certification (FMCSA 396.19)
- Welding or fabrication ability
- Prior oilfield experience
