This **Insurance Verification Representative** position is a full time opportunity and offers full benefits and a convenient swing shift schedule. The **Insurance Verification Representative** is responsible for verification of benefits for all hospital patients. Arranges for the efficient and orderly pre-admission of inpatients and outpatients, and appropriate follow up for emergency department admissions. Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required forv admission into computer database. Distributes appropriatev information to ancillary departments. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
- MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS**:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of insurance billing required.
- Ability to type 40 wpm comprehensive general clerical skills and computer literacy required.
- Medical terminology required.
- JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES**:
Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital policy related to: emergency preparedness, fire, hazardous materials and waste, medical equipment, safety, security and utilities and understands role and expected level of participation.
Utilizes standard precautions; complies with OSHA standards pursuant to blood borne pathogen, tuberculosis and hazardous material and waste; complies with infection control policies including isolation precautions and consistent hand hygiene.
