Part-Time - Hourly
We’re on the hunt for a creative, charismatic, and out-of-the-box Indoor Cycling Instructor who can take members on a journey every ride. Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proper cycling techniques and form to ensure a safe workout for all participants.
- Create and deliver high-energy workouts that align with the class’s musical rhythm and beat, using music to enhance the cycling experience.
- Design playlists that keep the energy up and engage participants through a range of music genres.
- Maintains current level of certification by attending trainings and any required classes.
- Supervise class participants and activities to ensure safety and report any irregularities to supervisor immediately.
- Maintain active interest in and knowledge of current YMCA programs and shares information with members and community.
- Be a professional representative of the YMCA.
- Be able to work as a team member, assisting and subbing for fellow staff when necessary.
- Make yourself available to all members regardless of age, gender, race, socioeconomic status, or fitness level. Share your knowledge and be a resource for sound health and fitness information.
- Take responsibility to keep studio/exercise classroom and equipment neat and clean.
- Be familiar with emergency procedures. Responds promptly and appropriately.
- Maintain good attendance. Give supervisor at least two week notice of schedule changes.
- Assume total responsibility for obtaining qualified substitutes when needed and inform supervisor.
- Build relationships with class members to promote member retention and encourage consistent attendance
- Stay updated on fitness trends and incorporate new techniques and ideas into classes to keep sessions fresh and engaging
Qualifications:
- Available in the evenings during the week
- Flexibility to teach early morning, evening, or weekend classes as needed for subbing
- Certified Indoor Cycling Instructor (Spinning®, Schwinn®, or equivalent)
- CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
- Strong knowledge of fitness principles, cycling techniques, and injury prevention
- Enthusiastic, motivational, and able to engage participants of all fitness levels
- Ability to create and maintain a high-energy, fun class environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands:

- While performing functions of this job, the employee must be able to lead high-energy, high-intensity indoor cycling classes for [60] minutes, demonstrating proper form while maintaining enthusiasm and motivating participants throughout. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
