Description
Northern Manufacturing, a worldwide leader in stainless steel fabrication, is seeking a motivated and hard working individual to join our Shipping team on 1st shift.
- Assist the Logistics Manager with day-to-day operations of the Shipping Department.
- Organize pending shipments including verification of the product, loading items into a shippable form, and creating crates or boxes for shipment.
- Build an understanding of the RF (radio frequency) scanners and shipping software, and routinely work within the system.
- Inform shipping personnel of shipping schedule and assist with prioritizing shipments based on customer needs.
- Processing of rate quotes for daily truck shipments as needed.
- Assist estimating/sales with rate quotes.
- Track and investigate shipping errors.
- Complete shipping documents including bill of lading, packing lists, tracking information, etc.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
- Make crates, skid, band, and wrap materials.
- Maintain clean and organized shipping and receiving yard.
- When applicable, research different and more effective ways to ship items including packaging methods and shipping carriers.
- Abide by established safety policies and procedures.
- Operate tow motor in a safe manner.
- Other duties as directed by the Company or driven by customer/production demands.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Shipping experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbal and written
- Strong inter-personal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Self-Motivated
- Basic math and measurement comprehension
- Must be able to obtain and retain a tow motor license
