Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MT) to join our clinical laboratory team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in laboratory procedures, specimen collection, and data management within a healthcare or research setting. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to vital diagnostic and research activities, supporting patient care. The successful applicant will possess strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, medical terminology, and physiology, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Performs phlebotomy procedures per protocol.
- Performs technical laboratory procedures in all areas of the lab including Microbiology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, and Hematology.
- Documents result in the LIS System.
- Performs Quality Control Procedures and follows through with corrective action as needed.
- Performs proficiency testing in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Maintains a policy and procedure manual in assigned area, as applicable.
- Performs preventative maintenance.
- Assists the Laboratory Manager in developing new procedures.
- Maintains sufficient working supplies to assure continued operation.
- Trains new staff, and perform competency reviews of all staff in assigned area.
- Follows universal precautions and all other safety and health policies.
- Recognizes and reports all patient and employee safety issues.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Maintains a professional and friendly attitude.
- Attends pertinent in-services to effectively perform job duties.
- Maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
- Performs such related duties not listed herein but deemed in the best interest of the hospital.
$10,000 sign on Bonus
Experience Training and Education
MT – bachelor’s degree in medical technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science.
MLT – associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology.
MT/MLT - Maintains or is eligible for current valid certification as a technician or technologist or equivalent by a National Board of Registry or certification i.e., ASCP, AMT, HEW, etc. If an employee does not have a certification, they must have it within one year of hire.
