The Clinical Services Division is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Clinic Registered Dietitian.

Status: Full-Time (40 hours/wk), non-exempt (hourly) merit system position
Classification: Clinic Registered Dietitian (Clinic RD)
Band: 8
Pay Rate: $29.02/Hour to 25.62/Hour
Reports To: Programs Manager (if based at the District Office); Clinic Supervisor or Clinic Manager (if based at a health center)
Initial Location: Assigned Health Center in Covington, Florence, Newport, or Williamstown or District office in Florence
Usual Schedule: Either Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Monday -Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
What You Will Do
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to:
- Provides medical nutrition counseling to clients referred from health department services, private physicians, agencies or self-referral.
- Assists in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nutrition program(s).
- Performs nutritional health screenings by interview and/or physical examination.
- Performs simple to complex routine and non-routine client nutrition services and individualized nutrition instruction according to local and state policies and procedures, the Administrative Reference (AR), and WIC and Nutrition Manual.
- Provides one on one or group client education and counseling on nutritional issues and educates eligible parties about benefits of assigned programs.
- Makes referrals to community resources as needed and maintains communication with other disciplines in coordinating health care activities on and off-site.
- Documents services and activities using appropriate workflows.
- Participates in the educational experiences of students.
- Provides assistance with community outreach activities, offsite clinics and community education programs as requested.
What Qualifications You Need
Minimum Qualifications:
Pre-Hire Education: Bachelors’ degree in Dietetics, Human Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, Food Systems Management or closely related field approved by the Kentucky Board of Licensure or the Commission on Dietetic Registration from an ACEND accredited college or university; and successful completion of Dietetics Internship or an accredited dietetics education program of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Effective January 1, 2024 a Master’s Degree from an accredited college/university shall be required in order to attain a license to work as an RD in the United States.
Certification: Must attain registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and maintain throughout incumbency.
License: Must attain license to work as an RD in Kentucky and meet requirements of KRS.310.021-310.990 and maintain throughout incumbency.
Other:Must possess a valid, active driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Knowledge of:
- Professional dietetic theory, public health nutrition, and standard public health nutrition protocols.
- Factors that influence health behaviors and food selection among multi-cultural population.
- Principles of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and theories of behavior change.
- Resources for assigned programs.
- Health department policies, procedures, technology, and equipment pertaining to assigned duties.
Skills and Abilities to:

- Use and generally maintain standard dietetic equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Desired Qualifications (these are a plus): Bilingual English/Spanish.
