Hourly Wage: $27.32

 

 

 

 

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Community Resilience and Engagement

 

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Foster Grandparent Volunteers

 

 

 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

 

The Program Director is responsible for the development and day to day management of the Foster Grandparent Program, which focuses on the recruitment and management of senior volunteers to assist with children with disabilities in the Head Start program throughout Boone, Campbell, Kenton, and Pendleton counties. 

 

The Program Director will be responsible for the start-up planning phase of the new program and for the growth and further development of the program in general. This highly visible leader will be adept at relationship building, program development and management, and community engagement.   

 

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provides Program oversight.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all CAC volunteer programs and their requirements and applies best practices to meet program goals and outcomes.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the funding source's requirements (programmatic and financial requirements) and applies best practices to meet program goals and outcomes.
  • Provides and/or arranges training and technical assistance to Foster Grandparents related to child development and to volunteer station supervisors related to best practices of Foster Grandparent Program operation.
  • Ensures and implements written program procedures for the program accordance with funding source requirements and best practices.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining all required (in-kind, financial, ROMA, board report, etc.) summary reports in a timely manner.
  • Manages the budget for the Foster Grandparent Program and ensures funds are properly spent.
  • Responsible for volunteer recruitment, selects and assigns volunteers to workstations, and maintains funding source required enrollment levels at all times.
  • Responsible for coordinating the relationship with volunteer sites. Coordination includes monthly volunteer station visits, working with the stations to ensure volunteer participation in station staff meetings and program planning, conducts reviews at each station and recommends changes to ensure appropriate program outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
  • Supervises Foster Grandparent volunteers in their respective placements and ensures volunteers are meeting all expectations of the Program.
  • Responsible for developing a record keeping system and maintaining records (hard copy files and electronic files) on all volunteers as required by the funding source.
  • Develops and implements the policies and procedures manual related to focus area within funding source constraints.
  • Identifies, develops and maintains community partnerships with corporations, small businesses, non-profit organizations, agencies, and organizations as it relates to the Foster Grandparent Program.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing volunteer related events. (i.e., recognitions, recruitment, exhibits, etc.)
  • Responsible for processing volunteer stipends.
  • Responsible for developing and performing an annual program self-assessment and implementation of improvement plan.
  • Responsible for developing the Foster Grandparent Program yearly grant renewal.
  • Assists in monitoring leverage and other match requirements for the program.
  • Ensure volunteer training is completed to meet all grant requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the community to build enrollment and sustain retention.
  • Participate in agency wide groups, trainings and meetings as required. (some weekends and evenings required)
  • Provide trends and general overview of Program to agency and community as appropriate and requested. 
  • Support other management systems of the Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
  • Perform other duties relevant to the agency, as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

 

  • Associate’s degree in Family Studies, Education, Social Work, or another related field is required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience working with volunteers.
  • Proven track record of problem solving and managing grant-funded community supportive programming in a data-driven environment.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including public speaking ability.  Preference will be given to individuals with bi-lingual capabilities in Spanish and English.
  • Enthusiasm and respect for working with and empowering low-income multi-cultural community residents and young children.
  • Experience working on a computer with Microsoft Office and Excel.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the ability to stand/walk/run after young children 100% of the time.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs up to 50% of the time
  • Ability to sit at, read, and enter data on computer for prolonged periods of time up to 75% of the time
  • Pass a TB Skin Test
  • Ability to work with people of diverse and varying socio-economic backgrounds.
