Overview
A leading global architecture and engineering firm with over 100 years of legacy is seeking a Structural Project Engineer for its West Coast, Mid-West & East Coast offices. This established firm specializes in transformative design across multiple sectors, with offices strategically located throughout the United States. Their portfolio encompasses federal, healthcare, aviation, education, and commercial projects, delivered through integrated architecture, engineering, and interior design services.
This role works closely with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients throughout all phases of project development. The successful candidate will independently manage technical assignments, coordinate structural systems across disciplines, and help guide junior team members while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget.

Develop structural design criteria and systems appropriate to each project.

Perform structural analyses, calculations, and code evaluations.

Prepare and coordinate foundation plans, framing plans, details, schedules, reports, and specifications.

Lead structural production efforts and oversee the work of EITs and designers.

Coordinate structural requirements with architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and other project disciplines.

Communicate directly with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Participate in client meetings and clearly present technical recommendations.

Lead site investigations, field observations, and existing-condition assessments.

Review structural documents for technical accuracy, constructability, code compliance, and quality.

Support Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, resolving field issues, and performing site visits.

Mentor junior engineers and designers and support their technical development.

Assist with project planning, staffing, schedules, and fee development.

Contribute to proposals, client interviews, relationship development, and other business development activities.

Travel occasionally for project-related and client-facing activities.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline with a structural emphasis.

Active Professional Engineer license.

At least seven years of structural engineering experience within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.

Experience designing a variety of building types and structural systems.

Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards, including ACI, AISC, NDS, and ASCE.

Experience preparing coordinated structural drawing packages using Revit.

Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, such as RISA-2D, RISA-3D, RAM, and related concrete foundation design programs.

Experience with structural calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.

Strong written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound technical judgment, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Experience estimating structural engineering hours and developing project fees.

Understanding of project management fundamentals, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and risk.

Experience leading portions of complex building projects from design through construction.

Demonstrated success mentoring junior engineers and coordinating technical teams.
