Help Transform the Future of Rural Behavioral Healthcare

Northern Human Services (NHS) is a nonprofit community mental health and developmental services organization serving individuals and families throughout Northern New Hampshire. For decades, NHS has been committed to helping people affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and related challenges live meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Serving multiple rural communities across a large geographic region, NHS is actively transforming how behavioral healthcare is delivered — expanding access, strengthening integrated care, and building a more connected, person-centered system of support.

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to serve as our Director of Rural Health Transformation & CCBHC Integration — a key role helping guide one of the most significant organizational transformations in our agency’s history.

What is a CCBHC?

A Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) is an integrated healthcare model designed to improve access to high-quality mental health and substance use services through coordinated, person-centered care. This position is intended to support the Agency’s CCBHC transformation and implementation efforts and is temporary in nature, with continuation dependent upon organizational need and funding availability, with at least a 2 year commitment.

  • Starting pay for this position is $105,000 annually

The CCBHC model focuses on:

  • Expanded access to care
  • Crisis response services
  • Integrated behavioral and physical healthcare
  • Care coordination across providers and systems
  • Improved outcomes for rural and underserved communities

About the Role

This position will work closely with executive leadership, operational teams, clinical leaders, and community partners to support NHS’s transition toward the CCBHC model and broader rural healthcare transformation efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting CCBHC implementation initiatives
  • Driving cross-functional collaboration and organizational alignment
  • Supporting compliance, quality improvement, and operational readiness
  • Building partnerships with healthcare providers, schools, emergency services, and community organizations
  • Assisting with workforce development, implementation planning, and sustainability initiatives
  • Helping strengthen integrated, coordinated systems of care across the rural service area

What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Social Work, Behavioral Health, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in healthcare, behavioral health, integrated care, or healthcare transformation
  • Experience with CCBHCs, Medicaid systems, rural healthcare, or federally funded healthcare programs preferred
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, communication, and strategic planning skills

Why Join NHS?

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of rural behavioral healthcare while making a meaningful impact on individuals, families, and communities throughout Northern New Hampshire.

Hybrid flexibility may be available based on organizational needs. Travel throughout the rural service area is required.

Join us in building the future of integrated rural healthcare.

To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter.
