Job Summary:

The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and ensuring the kitchen is ready for smooth and efficient service. Working closely with chefs and line cooks, this position follows prep lists and recipes to prepare sauces, chop produce, measure ingredients, and complete other foundational kitchen tasks. Prep Cooks play a critical role in maintaining food quality, freshness, and consistency, while supporting a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to grow their culinary skills and be part of a fast-paced, professional kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Prepare and organize ingredients according to recipes, portion controls, and prep lists.

  • Wash, chop, measure, and store ingredients properly for use during service.

  • Mix sauces, parboil food items, and assist with basic cooking techniques as directed.

  • Maintain accurate labeling, rotation, and storage of all food products.

  • Inspect and discard any ingredients that do not meet company quality standards.

  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures in compliance with regulations.

  • Assist in cleaning kitchen surfaces, tools, and equipment as needed.

  • Work collaboratively with line cooks and kitchen leadership to ensure timely preparation and service.

  • Promote a culture of food safety, organization, and teamwork in the kitchen.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.

  • Must hold or be able to obtain an Alaska Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire (failure to comply may result in reduced hours until provided).

  • Previous kitchen or prep experience preferred but not required.

  • Ability to prioritize, follow directions, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and stand for full shifts (up to 8 hours).

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
