Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments using clinical documentation standards and DSM-5 criteria to evaluate client needs and risks.
• Perform triage and crisis intervention risk assessments to determine urgency and appropriate level of care.
• Gather detailed patient histories, including medical terminology, psychiatric diagnoses (ICD-10/ICD coding), and behavioral health information while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and crisis management skills to support high-risk populations experiencing acute distress or trauma.
• Facilitate intake interviews via electronic health records (EHR) management systems, ensuring accurate data collection, documentation, and adherence to clinical protocols.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, including social workers, therapists, and medical professionals specializing in addiction counseling, grief counseling, or group therapy.
• Support patients with co-occurring disorders by conducting mental health assessments and providing initial stabilization for individuals with substance use disorders or developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with children, adolescents, or adults in behavioral health settings; experience with hospital or acute care environments is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavioral therapy techniques.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies, risk assessment protocols, and de-escalation techniques tailored for high-risk populations.
• Ability to accurately collect data and maintain detailed medical records in compliance with clinical documentation standards and HIPAA regulations.
• Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD, or other mental health conditions is preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for accurate diagnosis documentation; CPT coding experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction, group facilitation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability to work independently during overnight shifts while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
