On-Call Nurse, Hospice
Harmony Hospice is looking for a compassionate and caring Registered Nurse to join our Hospice team. The Hospice after-hours nurse works from home responding to after-hours calls from patients, families, caregivers, and referral sources. The RN assesses, utilizes critical thinking and gives advice or delivers care to hospice patients. Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and other interdisciplinary team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing and clinical competency.
We have an on-call position available. This position requires an RN to be on-call seven days from 4pm – 8am. Our service area includes Manistee County, Benzie County, Mason County, and Oceana County.
Requirements:
- Graduate of nursing school and currently holding a RN license.
- 1 year of previous nursing experience, preferred
- Previous home health care / hospice care experience, preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Strong ability to use critical thinking and deduction when performing job tasks and evaluating patient needs
- Empathy and compassion for patients and families facing end-of-life care - Responsible, compassionate, and caring demeanor
Job Responsibilities:
- Responding to calls from answering service in a timely manner
- Triaging patient related calls by determining the needs of the caller and then responding in an appropriate manner either by phone or with a visit
- Assist patients, family members or caregivers with concern and empathy; respect confidentiality and privacy and communicate in a courteous and respectful manner.
- attending patient deaths to provide support to the patient's family and complete required procedures following a death
- Completes afterhours admissions and consults as needed.
