Qualifications:

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.
  • Specialized experience is defined as experience serving as a expert or primary point of contact on security matters, including planning, installing, and maintaining physical security systems and equipment; participating in contingency and emergency preparedness planning and coordinating with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies; managing communications security (COMSEC) material and secure communications equipment; and administering programs for the safeguarding, storage, and handling of classified and sensitive information in compliance with national and Departmental requirements.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. Responsibilities:

If selected for this position, you will serve as the District's Security Specialist with responsibility for planning, directing and
administering a comprehensive district-wide security program. Typical work assignments will include:
  • Planning, designing, developing and implementing the security program for the District, including document security, physical security, and emergency planning.
  • Conducting continuing reviews, analysis and evaluation of the entire spectrum of security activities for the District and branch offices.
  • Maintaining constant, effective appropriate liaison and coordination of all security activities with senior level personnel, industry and local safety officials.
  • Assigning accountable property, furniture, and equipment to staff members, maintaining records and accountable property assignments up to date.
  • Maintaining oversight of the district's accident prevention program, including ensuring annual or more frequent inspections of safety conditions, investigating and compiling data on accidents and injuries, and providing information to staff on safety standards and techniques.
  • Directing the daily workflow and establishes priorities and work assignments for subordinate personnel.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Each grade has 10 step rates and new GS employees are usually hired at step one of the applicable GS grade level at which the applicant qualified. The salary range for a GS-12 in San Francisco is $111,896.00 - $145,468.00 (step 1 through step 10).
