What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisory Pharmacist position at Northern Cheyenne Service Unit?
This position is located in the Pharmacy Branch within the Division of Clinical Services at the Northern Cheyenne Service Unit, Lame Deer, Montana. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Supervisory Pharmacist. This position reports to the Clinical Director.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education
A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education(external link) (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure
All applicants must have passed the North Pharmacist Licensure (NAPLEX) and the Multi-state Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE). Applicants also must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for the GS-13 and above Grade Levels:
In addition to the licensure and educational requirements described above, a minimum of one year of professional pharmacy experience that is equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Knowledge and experience with leadership roles for departmental budgets, training requirements for department, recruitment for vacancies, departmental schedules and evaluating performance for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians; Organize, plan, direct, evaluate, and implement comprehensive pharmacy services that meet national professional standards.

- Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens;
- Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications;
- Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or
- Maintaining all medication records required by law.

- Assures pharmacy prescription service are provided including reading and interpreting prescriptions, calculating dosages, weighing and measuring drugs, and mixing and compounding medications and chemicals.
- Records all patient information in the electronic health record consistent with documentation requirements.
- Ensures all pharmacy policies and procedures are accurate and conforming to regulations. Participate in pharmacy QA/Performance Improvement activities using predetermined, established audit criteria.
- Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates and prepare schedules; evaluates work performances; advise or counsel employees on work and administrative matters; interview candidates for positions, recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments to such positions; hear and resolve complaints from employees; identify training needs of employees; approves leave.
