Northern Cambria Municipal Authority in Northern Cambria, PA is looking for a dedicated Utility Worker to join our team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reading water meters: Interacting with customers inside their homes and businesses regarding meter related issues; removal and replacement of defective inside and outside reading devices; testing of meters; installation and replacement of meters; Obtains and records water meter readings in company's service area to ensure accurate billing of customers' accounts within established timeframes.
- Performs water turn on and turn offs as necessary
- Responds to customer inquiries in the field accurately and professionally
- Repair and Installation: Assist in the repair of distribution lines by locating the problem, fixing breaks or replacing sections, and repairing the surface; Assist with Installing new services.
- System Operations: Inspect water mains, exercising valves; review and update maps, flushing and maintenance of fire hydrants.
- General Maintenance and Support: Respond to PA One Calls to mark utility lines and mowing and snow clearing around all authority owned facilities.
- Leak Detection: Use leak detection equipment to locate and listen for leaks within the service area and provide detailed documentation of each location
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· The physical ability to accomplish manual labor tasks
· Ability to read and understand maps and blueprints
· Possess a valid PA motor vehicle license
· Pass a Background check
· Knowledge of plumbing and mechanical equipment

· Work well with coworkers as part of a team and also work independently
· Adhere to safety standards and recognize hazards in the workplace
· Perform manual tasks and operate equipment for extended periods, sometimes in adverse weather
· Be polite and courteous when interacting with the general public
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable using modern technology to document jobs and related work activity in a timely manner
· Be available to work occasionally during late evenings and early morning hours to effectively listen for leaks within the system
· Be available to respond to emergencies 24/7
Job Type: Full-Time Monday – Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm
