What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse Stress Lab/Cardiac Rehab position at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital?
Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) has a great opportunity for a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) in our Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab. Our goals include helping patients increase physical fitness, reduce symptoms, decrease risk, and improve overall health. We want our patients to return to their highest levels of physical, mental, and social functioning through our exercise, education, and counseling services. The RN collaborates with providers and other team members to assist in maintaining a caring, safe environment while promoting a comfortable patient experience.
What you’ll do day-to-day:
Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab relies on a nurse’s ability to establish rapport and relationships with our patients, as it is essential to their success. The RN will work in a gym, monitoring exercise in a group setting, running 5-6 classes per day. The RN gathers vital signs, monitors telemetry, sets up exercise equipment, conducts patient intake appointments, and visits inpatient cardiac patients as needed. The RN also provides education to our patients. In addition to day-to-day hands-on patient care, the RN is responsible for daily charting and administrative work for the department, including management of patient accounts and referrals.
In the Stress Lab, the RN’s focus is on executing regular or pharmacological stress tests within an interdisciplinary team. The RN participates in scheduling patients, calling patients to gather pretest information, and provides pretest instructions. The RN works with a second healthcare professional in the stress testing setting, monitoring a 12-lead EKG throughout the test.
