About the Opportunity SUMMARY Reporting to the Associate Director for Pre-Award Grants Administration, the Grants Administrator (GA) is responsible for pre-award financial and administrative support in the College of Science. The GA will advise and support faculty as they prepare funding proposals by processing, reviewing, and approving materials and facilitating the internal review process. Specifically, the GA works closely with an assigned portfolio of College of Science faculty, assisting with the administrative components of pre-award grants proposals, ensuring compliance with all University policies for successful submission. The GA also prepares templates and trainings for faculty and student proposers, and is responsible for proposal reviews, tracking, electronic records keeping, and related project management. RESPONSIBILITIES Proposal Preparation Support Takes the lead in understanding funding opportunity announcements and preparing a list of materials needed to complete the proposal. Supports the process of collecting proposal materials from investigators and sub-awardees to complete the proposal package and obtain NU approvals as needed. Manages time-sensitive requests, ensuring proposals are completed in accordance to all deadlines Award Management and Communications Collaborating with central University offices and the post-award team, follow through on administrative tasks related to facilitating a seamless transition from pre to post-award. Maintain records and faculty information and ensure that proposals files are complete and organized in the appropriate folders within internal systems. Create and update useful templates for administrators and faculty. Remain up-to-date on best practices in grants administration and proposal generation, and shares information as appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference in accounting or business administration with a minimum of two years of experience in an academic or non-profit environment preferred Understanding of federal/university guidelines, policies and procedures related to grants administration preferred Candidate must demonstrate strong organization, communication, attention to detail, and time management Preference for candidates who can demonstrate knowledge of federal web-based grants management systems, enterprise financial systems, query tools or grants management tools a plus. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills needed. Must also demonstrate an ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a high volume, deadline-driven environment. Successful candidates will be able to work effectively with all levels of University faculty and staff while using strong project management skills to remain on-task.
