HVAC Outside Sales

The HVAC Outside Sales Representative works cooperatively with the Inside Sales Team and other members of the distribution team to grow business with existing customers, create new customers, and meet or exceed monthly sales quotas at the appropriate gross margin while increasing customer satisfaction.

Sales & Customer Support

• Recommend additional items while taking customer orders
• Present price, credit, and terms in accordance with standard procedures and each customer's profitability profile
• Increase sales and average order size through cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales, and promotional items
• Proactively recommend items needed by the customer to increase satisfaction and improve transaction profitability

Order & Vendor Coordination

• Assist with customer transactions such as orders, quotes, system AHRI match-ups, and returns
• Provide accurate information regarding availability of in-stock items
• Obtain accurate shipment and delivery information from vendors; monitor scheduled shipment dates and expedite as needed
• Follow Special Order policy as stated in the Company Handbook
• Communicate unexpected increases or decreases in product demand to the purchasing department

Product Knowledge & Pricing Compliance

• Educate customers on HVAC terminology, features, and benefits to improve product-related sales and customer satisfaction
• Obtain approval from the HVAC department in Golden Ring before price-matching or lowering American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning products in Shims

Customer Relations & Standards

• Contact customers following sales to ensure ongoing satisfaction and resolve any complaints
• Fill requests for catalogs, information, or samples
• Set up and maintain accurate and organized customer files
• Adhere to the rules and regulations set forth in the Employee Handbook
• Other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or GED required; minimum 2 years in a similar position (3 years preferred)
• Basic HVAC knowledge
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
• Product/applications and wholesale distribution experience preferred
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to adapt to different customer types
• Understanding of budgets and budget tracking
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Salary : $28,600 - $62,400
