NSU invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs – Faculty Development and Student Success. This position serves to support faculty scholarship, encourage faculty and staff development, coordinate academic student success efforts, promote academic excellence, facilitate various Academic Affairs projects to include Common Read, working with University Strategies Coordinator, and taking an active role in student recruiting and retention through work with first-year programming.
Duties:
The Assistant Vice President works with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs as part of the Academic Affairs team with a primary responsibility to oversee faculty development and academic student success initiatives. The Assistant Vice President oversees the Center for Tribal Studies, Office of International Programs, Advisement, as well as other divisional units that deal with faculty and student success. In addition, the Assistant Vice President will oversee various committees, interview faculty candidates, and serve as the Research Integrity Officer for the institution.
Minimum Education:
Terminal degree required and qualifications appropriate to the rank of professor.
Minimum Experience:
3 years of administrative experience at director/assistant dean level or above. Substantial full-time university level teaching experience. Significant experience with oversight of complex projects and budgets. Has obtained tenure at a college or university.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree, university teaching experience, and academic administrative experience. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, leadership potential, and professional development required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior faculty appointment and promotion to tenured status at a regionally accredited institution or its equivalent.
Successful grant funding to support academic innovation.
Participation in the tenure process as a review committee member or supervisor.
Experience in working with undergraduate education, including first-year students.
Job Functions:
Evaluate data related to academic student success.
Coordinate University Strategies and support Common Read Program.
Oversee Undergraduate Research.
Supervise the Executive Director of University Advising.
Support coaching initiative with Inside Track.
Supervise the Director of International Programs.
Supervise Director of Center for Tribal Studies
Conduct interviews for all full-time faculty candidates.
Oversee the following committees: Faculty Development, Faculty Mentoring, Faculty Research, Institutional Review Board, and Institutional Animal Care and Use.
Serve as NSU’s Research Integrity Officer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Annual salary $108,204.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
