About Us
Northeastern Academy & Early Learning Center is a high-quality early childhood education center committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children ages 6 weeks to preschool. We are currently seeking dependable and caring Assistant Teachers / Floats to support classrooms throughout the day and ensure smooth operation across all age groups.

Position Overview
The Assistant Teacher / Float provides support to lead teachers, helps maintain ratios, and steps into classrooms as needed throughout the day. This role requires flexibility, strong communication, and a positive attitude. You will assist with daily routines, classroom activities, supervision, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Schedules Available
- 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM (close shift)
Pay Range
$13.00 – $16.00 per hour, based on:
- Experience
- Education/training
- Professionalism and reliability
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers in infant, toddler, and/or preschool classrooms
- Step into classrooms to maintain ratios when staff are out or on breaks
- Assist with learning activities, playtime, meals, and transitions
- Follow daily routines and classroom schedules
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment
- Communicate effectively with teachers, children, and parents
- Follow all Iowa HHS licensing rules and center policies
- Participate in required training and professional development
- Model kindness, patience, and a positive attitude
Qualifications
- Experience in childcare preferred, but we will train the right person
- Must be reliable, professional, and able to work scheduled shift consistently
- Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively supervise children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions and support classroom management
- High school diploma or GED required
- Additional early childhood training or education is a plus
