What are the responsibilities and job description for the WISe Therapist position at NORTHEAST WASHINGTON ALLIANCE COUNSELING SERVICES?

The WISe Therapist plays a vital role within NEWABH's Mental Health Program, providing intensive, community-based behavioral health services to Medicaid-eligible youth, young adults (up to age 20), and their families in Ferry, Lincoln, and Stevens Counties. This position delivers Wraparound with Intensive Services (WISe), a highly individualized and strengths-based treatment model designed for youth with complex behavioral health needs who have not been successful in traditional outpatient care. The WISe Therapist conducts CANS screenings and full assessments, develops individualized service and cross-system care plans, and provides a range of clinical interventions in natural settings such as homes, schools, and community locations. This role is part of a collaborative Child and Family Team process that ensures families' voices guide service planning and that care is flexible, coordinated, and responsive. In addition to intensive WISe work, the Therapist provides crisis response and stabilization services for WISe youth and, as part of a rotation, offers crisis support to agency clients during and outside of regular business hours. Responsibilities include mobile outreach, crisis planning, coordinating with community partners, and when necessary, supporting evaluations related to involuntary treatment laws. The role also participates in agency and community meetings, interagency collaboration, and ongoing professional development. Candidates must hold a master's degree in a behavioral health field, possess or be eligible for required Washington State credentials, have experience working with youth with significant behavioral health needs, and be able to work a flexible schedule---including evenings and weekends---to meet family needs. This position requires strong communication skills, reliable transportation, and the ability to work safely in a variety of community settings.

**Qualifications**

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field
  • Two years experience in direct treatment of seriously emotionally disturbed youth and families strongly preferred.
  • Certification as an Agency Affiliated Counselor by the Washington State Department of Health obtainable upon hire; Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapist, or Social Worker by the Washington State Department of Health strongly preferred.
  • Eligible to become a Designated Mental Health Professional (DMHP: a person with a Masters deg. in the behavioral sciences, at least 2 years of experience in the direct treatment of mentally ill persons, and certified to conduct evaluations pertaining to involuntary psychiatric hospitalizations.)
  • Child Mental Health Specialist designation by the Department of Social & Health Services/Division of Behavioral Health & Recovery very strongly preferred.
  • Satisfactory criminal history backgrounds check results are a condition of employment.
